Sable Books is pleased to announce the 2019 Haiku Book Contest for Women.

Manuscripts may include up to 75 poems – haiku, senryu, tanka, haibun – in any combination. Entry fee $10.  

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions will be accepted through November 15 in either .pdf or .doc/.docx file formats.

Please submit two versions of your manuscript: one, blind with no identifying text; the other should include your name and contact information.  Send them through e-mail to this address.

Haiku within the manuscript may be previously published, but it is not a requirement.

Multiple and simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please inform us if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.    

Award

The winning poet will receive a prize of $100 plus 10 copies. The winning book will have international distribution points to avoid international postage overseas from the U.S.

Final Judge

We are honored and pleased to announce Roberta Beary as our Final Judge. Beary identifies as gender-expansive, and writes to connect with the disenfranchised, to let them know they are not alone. Her work has appeared in Rattle, KYSO Flash, 100 Word Story, Cultural Weekly, and The New York Times. Her short poem collection, The Unworn Necklace, received a finalist award from Poetry Society of America. Her prose poem collection, Deflection, was named a National Poetry Month Best Pick by Washington Independent Review of Books. She lives in Ireland.
